Wearing jewelry

Proper care will preserve the beauty and longevity of your jewellery for years to come.

General Care – All Jewellery

  • Put your jewellery on last — after applying makeup, perfume, hairspray or lotion.
  • Remove jewellery before showering, bathing, swimming or cleaning.
  • Avoid contact with chlorinated or salt water, as it can cause discoloration and structural damage to metals.
  • Take off jewellery before manual work, housework or gardening to prevent scratches and impact damage.
  • Avoid wearing jewellery during contact sports. Hard blows can damage both the piece and the wearer.
  • Store pieces separately to prevent scratching and tangling.

METAL JEWELLRY

  • Keep away from harsh chemicals and cleaning solvents.
  • Gently polish with a soft silver cloth to restore shine.
  • Store in a dry place, ideally in a soft pouch or jewellery box to reduce oxidation.
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to humidity

CHAINS AND NECKLACES

  • Fasten clasps when storing to prevent tangling.
  • Lay chains flat rather than hanging them to avoid stretching over time.
  • Do not pull or tug on fine chains, as this may weaken the links.
  • Avoid sleeping while wearing delicate chains.
  • Check clasps and links occasionally to ensure they remain secure.

JEWELLERY WITH GEMSTONES

  • Handle gemstones with care — stones can chip or crack if knocked against hard surfaces.
  • Clean gently with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners unless the stone type allows it.
  • Remove rings when lifting heavy objects to prevent pressure damage.

PEARLS

  • Avoid contact with perfume, hairspray and cosmetics.
  • Never wear pearls while having your hair coloured — chemicals and alcohol can permanently damage their lustre.
  • Wipe gently with a soft cloth after wearing.
  • Store separately from harder jewellery to prevent scratching.
