The diamonds in princess cut and in hexagon cut are salt and pepper diamonds. These diamonds are unique in colour and pattern. Once considered rough diamonds, their patternation is created by inclusions and imperfections in the stone that give it a smoky shade with speckles and flecks creating their mottled effect. Salt and pepper diamonds are a wonderful alternative to traditional white diamonds due to their truly individual characteristics.
Green is a special colour for sapphires, as we mostly think of blue sapphires. They symbolize calmness, trust, loyalty, integrity. It is said that those who wear green sapphires are encouraging love, thoughtfulness, and peace.
Sapphire belongs to the corundum family of gemstones. It’s very hard, scoring nine out of ten on the Mohs scale of hardness.
Like all sapphires, green sapphire is colorless when pure. The color results from the presence of iron in the stone. Over time, even a tiny amount of iron can cause the stone to take on a green color through a process called intervalence charge transfer. Our sapphires are from Madagaskar, they are from a mine that closed long ago.
